Daily Communication Folders & Thursday Folders

Daily Folders
One of the primary ways that we will communicate with one another is through your child's Daily Folder.  The left pocket is labeled "Return to School."  This will include homework, any unfinished classwork that needs to be completed at home, or time sensitive notices.  The right pocket is labeled "Keep at Home."  This will include completed work, or work that I have asked students to take home without grading (usually because we went over it together in class).  It is very important that you empty the "Keep at Home" side of the folder every day and return the folder to the backpack.  All graded work will be sent home on Mondays. This folder should stay in your child's backpack at all times because it travels back and forth, between school and home every day.  In between the two pockets, you will find two clear page protectors.  The first one is intended for money, change in dismissal notes, and other important forms that need to be signed and returned.  The second page protector is a communication log for you to jot down quick questions or comments.

Thursday Folders
On Thursdays, your child will arrive home with an additional folder.  Inside, you will find notices, lunch menus, book club orders, permission slips, etc.  Please empty the folder Thursday evening and have your child return the empty folder to school on Friday.  The folders will be stored in the classroom until the following Thursday.  Any time sensitive material will be sent home in your child's Daily Folder throughout the week.

Please note: I have created these folders already, so be on the lookout for them during the first week of school :).
